WHY VALVE IS FUCKING GREAT
- Awesome games (The Portal Series, the Half Life series, Team Fortress 2, DOTA, Left 4 Dead, etc)
- Great storylines
- They know immersion really well
- They have long waits but the end product is worth the wait (consider L4D2 that didn’t take much long at all and while it wasn’t terrible it wasn’t flawless either)
- Diverse and intersting characters that include several poc characters, women characters, and awesome woc
- Made Steam, possibly the biggest internet game library/store that revolutionized PC gaming and the indie gaming market and also allows easy interaction with people you want to share and play games with
- Gaben
- Steam has regular sales which slash game prices to ridiculous levels (psychonauts for $2.50 for example), one of the most prominent being around the holiday season which is gr8 for quick, inexpensive gift giving
- In 2004 Wolpaw was diagnosed with ulcerative colitis. Expecting his condition to require a departure from the company, he spoke with managing director Gabe Newell, who surprised him by offering an extended leave with pay. “Your job is to get better,” Newell said. “That is your job description at Valve. So go home to your wife and come back when you are better.”
